SMSF Accountant
Role Purpose:
Working with a leading Accounting firm ranked in the top 100 Firms in Australia with multiple fast-growing divisions, Rathmines Group Inc. is a fast-growing and dynamic International financial firm that offers support to the Australian Market in Accounting, Insurance, Finance, Taxation, Bookkeeping, Financial Planning, and Advisory.
This role will be perfect for individuals with SMSF experience who are eager to expand their knowledge in this niche. As part of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a multi-dimensional firm in a growth phase, gaining invaluable firsthand experience.
Do:
• Prepare and review SMSF Income Tax Returns, Financial Statements, and all related compliance requirements in accordance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations and relevant accounting standards.
• Prepare, review, and maintain SMSF workpapers using BGL 360, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency with firm standards.
• Prepare and review Financial Statements, Trustee Reports, and Depreciation Schedules, ensuring compliance with current accounting standards, superannuation legislation, and best practice.
• Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) for SMSFs where applicable.
• Complete all relevant ATO forms and regulatory documentation for SMSFs accurately and within required deadlines.
• Act as a key point of contact for SMSF auditors, responding to audit queries efficiently and resolving issues proactively.
• Identify and manage audit issues and compliance risks, escalating complex matters to the Manager or Partner where required.
• Undertake complex accounting tasks and assist with technical research to resolve SIS issues with SMSF clients.
• Assist in interpreting and applying changes in superannuation, taxation, and regulatory legislation, and communicate impacts to the team.
• Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members on complex SMSF accounting and taxation matters.
• Report to the responsible Manager and Partner on client matters, workflow progress, and emerging issues.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of internal processes, templates, and procedures for SMSF compliance work.
• Maintain a high level of technical knowledge in SMSF accounting, taxation, and superannuation law through ongoing research and professional development.
• Complete client files within agreed budgets and timeframes, maintaining close oversight of revenue recovery and job profitability.
Have:
• An accounting degree
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
• Experience with BGL360
• Commitment to developing technical knowledge in super
